The Salzburg
Authorized Academic Java Campus (AAJC) is the first institution
of its kind in continental Europe. The AAJC was accredited in
February 2000 by Sun Microsystems.
AAJCs in general
aim at propagating Java technologies within academic environments.
For instance, the AAJC in Salzburg offers the Java Certification
Programmes ("Programmer", "Developer" and "Java Architect") to
students of Computer Science at the Paris-Lodron University of
Salzburg and to students of Studies in Telecommunications at the
Polytechnic University in Salzburg. Establishing the AAJC in Salzburg
is another milestone in reassuring SunTREC Salzburg at the forefront
of Java technologies.
Sun's
Authorized Academic Java Campus[sm] (AAJC) program provides universities
a way to establish a Sun branded training center on campus by
licensing Java[tm] technology from Sun, the creator of the Java
programming language. By incorporating Sun's Java technology courseware
into their existing curriculum, the AAJCs will help prepare their
students to meet the urgent need for Java technology programmers
today while giving them the educational foundation they need to
succeed in tomorrow's world of E-Commerce.
Through
the Authorized Academic Java Campus program, universities collaborate
with local industry to give students practical, hands-on experience
implementing Java technology pilot projects in real business environments.
Universities will also provide other valuable services to the
community, such as helping developers prepare their products to
meet the 100% Pure Java[tm] certification standard, localization
of Java applets, and development of Java technology class libraries.
